Log home discussion
Log home kits are likely to settle with time; settling refers to shrinking and compression of the logs. Shrinkage because of settling can be reduced by using well seasoned logs. Seasoning removes the moisture from the logs and chances of shrinking are reduced. Settling due to compression is unavoidable since the logs, which are mounded on top of each other, likely to press down the logs that are placed underneath. Settling due to compression is very common in tall structures.
